Soil health and stewardship is the cornerstone of organic farming and gardening. This talk will summarize ways to responsibly manage one of the most important aspects of soil fertility and soil health - soil organic matter - from its basic functions and importance in soil to the best ways to enhance it. We will cover common soil amendments - what to add and what NOT to add to your soil - as well as the advantages and disadvantages of several green manure and cover crops.
